Meta Bans Russian Media Making Money from Content on All Platforms

Several social media platforms responded to Russia's INVASION of Ukraine. One of them is from Meta Inc regarding advertising.

Meta Platforms Inc prohibits Russian state-owned media from making money from content on any social networking giant's platforms. Meta also prohibits Russian state-owned media from advertising.

"We are also continuing to label additional Russian state media. These changes have already taken effect and will continue to take place over the weekend," said Nathaniel Gleicher, head of security policy at Meta.

"We now prohibit Russian state-owned media from advertising or monetizing on any of our platforms worldwide," Gleicher said.

Following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Facebook, one of Meta's platforms, is rolling out extra security features to allow users in Ukraine to protect their accounts.

Users in Ukraine can lock accounts so that other people who are not friends with them cannot see activity on the platform. After the Russian invasion, Twitter shared how to secure and shut down accounts, Reuters was quoted as saying on Sunday.
