The Walt Disney Co (DIS.N) has appointed an executive to oversee the metaverse strategy.
This report was submitted by Disney chief executive Bob Chapek, "With the appointment of an executive to be able to prepare a strategy so that the company can plunge into the metaverse.
The chief executive specifically announced a new position named Senior VP of Next Generation Storytelling and Consumer Experiences.
Disney appointed a man named Mike White, an executive at the Entertainment and Media Distribution group, to fill the new position in determining the desirability of the state of the Disney Metaverse.
Mike will work with Disney's creative team to create a synergized Metaverse between consumers and developers.
"For nearly 100 years, our company has defined and redefined entertainment by leveraging technology to bring stories to life in deeper and more impactful ways," wrote Chapek of Reuters.
Chapek also added that Disney is creating an entirely new paradigm for how audiences experience and engage with the stories they make.
Last November, Disney was ready to embark on a journey into the metaverse to advance the story scenario by combining elements of the physical and digital worlds.
In the report, Chapek describes the metaverse as “the next great storytelling frontier” and part of the company's strategic priorities.
It will be even more solid because the Disney-appointed White has 25 years of technology and leadership experience.
Before joining Disney in 2011, he served as chief technology officer for Apollo Group.
After that, White previously spent a decade at Yahoo, holding positions of increasing responsibility, including director of strategy and technology.
He will be tasked with implementing a process for prioritizing allocating resources.
It is also hoped to create a task force that will include leaders.
White will report to Kareem Daniel, Disney's Media and Entertainment Distribution chairman, and Josh D'Amaro, head of parks, experiences, and products.
