Google will remove the Lite or Save Data feature for the Android version of the Chrome browser.
This feature is considered ineffective because the internet around the world is much cheaper.
"In recent years, we have seen a decrease in costs for mobile data in many countries," said Craig as Chrome Support Manager in the official Google blog, quoted from Techradar, Monday (2/28/2022).
Google Chrome first introduced Lite mode to Android in 2014.
This feature is intended to surf the internet with fewer data.
Now the cost to buy a data package has started to decrease, and Google Chrome's features are getting more complete.
From there, Google chose to remove Lite mode on Android Chrome.
Another reason is that the Android 12 operating system also has an internet data saver feature for all applications.
Users can set it by going to Settings and selecting Cellular Data.
Even though Lite mode is gone, Craig promises to make sure Chrome provides a fast web loading experience on mobile devices.
The removal of Lite mode on Google Chrome Android will take place on March 29, 2022, along with the release of Chrome M100 to all devices.
